You are an abomination!……….As he shaking me violently………making my world feel like I’m in an earthquake. I look for my mother as she is watching this comfortably in her loveseat. She is suppose to love me enough to beg, plead, campaign, even that they let her only son go. Imagine being a 16 y/o child with a loving family. Until that one day. The day u come home from school and your Aunt says, “She said that you touched her! Don’t lie to me!”. Your whole family the only family u have turns on u in a blink of an eye, beats u down like a stranger in the streets over a bold face lie. Being put out on the streets hurt, beatened, bruised, and feeling all alone, to the only place to live in a shelter. The person who should’ve listened, fought, or tried to protect you let it happen. Juan’s family now is the shelter he turned to where he meets Jazmyn 13 years older than him. Juan & Jazmyn started messing around when his true feelings start to develop, but he’s still unsure of his love. The author (Jarold) tell this story with the opening of a powerful description, the characters were well developed, and the plot wasn’t predictable, especially at the end it was a jaw-breaker. I’m a mother of a 15 y/o and I try to monitor which authors or books she reads, but I can honestly say, I loved this story. The sex scenes were not over the top, it told a story and between time it relayed several strong messages. This book make a person think how one lie can change your life forever and the little things we take for granted. Excellent job Jarold!!
